Under general supervision of the Center Director, assesses, screens, and counsels’ clients in an outpatient substance use program to enhance, meet or restore a client’s functioning capacity. Works with a multi-disciplinary team that provides evidence-based individuals and group counseling and psychoeducation to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health problems. Provides harm reduction strategies, early recovery skills, and relapse prevention skills. Develops client-driven treatment plans for various stages of recovery. Completes assessments, manages a case load, completes treatment plans, monitors client’s urine drug screen results, and completes substance use assessments. Provides oversight and clinical accountability for the Clinic in the absence of the Center Director. May supervise master’s level interns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ASSESSES/SCREENS COMPLEX CASES
- Performs biopsychosocial assessments, focusing on substance use needs
- Documentation adheres to agency guidelines
- Utilizes information from multiple sources to aid the development of client driven treatment plan
- Assesses and documents response to skill-based interventions, modifies interventions within agency timelines
- Utilizes specific assessment tools, such as URICA, regularly in evaluation of the client
- Collaborates sound clinical judgement in the development of client goals and treatment planning
- Obtains clinical supervision monthly and seeks additional supervision as necessary
ADVANCED THERAPEUTIC COUNSELING
- Creates therapeutic relationship as appropriate with clients and families/significant others
- Conducts individual and family sessions using evidence-based interventions, such as MI, CBT, or DBT
- Facilitates group therapy sessions focusing on recovery education and evidence-based interventions, including MATRIX Model, CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety, and MI
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge in mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorder treatment
- Demonstrates documented clinical proficiency (through education, training, or experience) in client engagement, interviewing and recording
DEVELOPS AND PARTICIPATES IN COMPLEXCASE MANAGEMENT/CARE PLANNING
- Creates, communicates, and coordinates treatment plan
- Demonstrates expertise in care/planning through objectives, goals, and specificity of plan
- Serves as resource to staff in demonstration of up-to-date knowledge of DCSB, community, regional, and state resources
- Assist treatment team in problem solving regarding needed resources for clients
- Insures timely communication with providers though proper exchange of written and verbal communication per policy and procedures
- Document referrals, discharges, resources, or other issues for problem resolution and or utilization as required in agency policy
- May serve as a liaison on community resource activities, such as peer support meetings or legal entities
OPERATIONS: In collaboration with, during absence of, or delegated by Director.
- Assists in managing personnel, including staff coverage, through collaboration with Director
- Demonstrates data driven decision capabilities with consulting with Director
- Assists in ensuring compliance with contractual and regularity requirements in Director absence
- Demonstrates excellent customer service to internal and external clients
- Assists in maintaining environmental safety and therapeutic milieu for staff and clients
- Maintains productivity standards, as evidenced by the scorecard
- May provide clinical supervision to interns and associate level licensed professionals
- May run operational reports (i.e. authorizations, 60 day, discharge, etc.) as delegated by the Director
- May assist with onboarding new staff

SKILL, COMPETENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree and Georgia licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor and/or Marriage and Family Therapist is required.
- Two years of related work experience with specific education or training in substance use related content. Computer proficient and ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrates competency in using evidenced based treatments for mental illness and substance use disorders.
