A Recovery Technician is someone personally in long term recovery from substance use disorder. They offer non-clinical recovery support services to people in or seeking recovery through a combination of the use of their lived experience, role-modeling and ongoing training/supervision. They utilize a person-centered approach to support peers in initiating and maintaining recovery and increasing their recovery capital (employment, education, support groups, housing. etc.). Recovery Technician can work in conjunction with traditional clinical treatment or be an alternative to clinical treatment. Recovery Technicians walk side by side with individuals at every stage of recovery and assist/support them in creating their own recovery plan and developing their own recovery pathway/s. Recovery Technicians support all individual’s pathway choices. Tangu offers a safe environment that allows individuals served to explore the various programs of 12-step recovery.
Competencies:
- Believe in providing exceptional and accessible care to clients and fellow staff
- Facilitate Community Groups and other assigned groups for clients in Housing Program
- Individual counseling and crisis intervention
- Responsible for completing weekend progress notes to effectively communicate with treatment team
- Communicate client progress and issues daily and/or weekly with treatment team
- Participate as a member of the Treatment Team in development of Treatment Plans, and Phase I and II reviews
- Process Therapeutic Leaves, privileges and client issues with treatment team
- Hold clients accountable for following rules and regulations
- Processes rule violations with clients and deliver appropriate consequences
- Inform all clients of any schedule changes and plans recreational outings or special events
- Monitor supply and maintenance needs in assigned communities
- Perform on-call duties as scheduled
- Responsible for orientation for clients admitting into the Housing Program to include review of program rules and orientation guidelines
- Responsible for development of client contracts and setting of recovery goals within the therapeutic community
- Responsible for inspecting client belongings at admission or upon return from Therapeutic Leave
- Responsible for facilitating Thursday Weekend Planning and Monday Weekend Review groups as part of the day treatment schedule
- Orientation of new clients in first 24-48 hours
- Group notes weekly for all residential groups/educational groups
- Responsible for collaborating with treatment team and approving clients’ money requests, sponsor/legal appointment requests, therapeutic leaves, and other client requests
- Assist clients with transitioning process from program that includes: providing housing resources, assist with housing application process, and other transitional needs
- Responsible for completing other duties, as necessary
